The Bangtail Biathlon is hosted by Crosscut Mountain Sports Center at our race ready range, and breathtaking trails in beautiful Bridger Canyon.

In 2026, the Bangtail Biathlon is a one day event with competition (must have U.S. Biathlon Basic Rifle Safety Certification) and novice races. Novice races are open to all and a great way to experience the sport of biathlon rifle and ammo are provided.

Whether you are racing for the win, or shooting a firearm for the very first time, we welcome all participants to join in on the fun! Join us for this event that draws biathletes and skiers from the Bozeman community and throughout the Rocky Mountain West.

Trail Closures & Spectator Parking

Most trails will stay open to the public, with only limited race-course closures. Come watch the action or cheer on racers during your ski! Spectators are welcome on course (valid pass and skis required) or in the stadium, with easy parking and on-foot access.
