Masters Biathlon Program
Supporting lifelong pursuit of outdoor sports
Crosscut’s Masters Biathlon Program was created to be a welcoming environment for all. If you are new to cross-country skiing, shooting, or both, our coaches meet you wherever you are today and support your learning. If you seek a committed training environment to pursue biathlon at the competitive level, our adult program offers a means to grow your skillset and athletic abilities.
Our community of adult biathletes is made up of individuals with unique goals — some come to learn a new sport, or learn about the sport their children are passionate about. Others want to be competitive during local races. And some people come looking for a way to exercise in nature on a regular basis. Whatever your reason for getting into biathlon, we welcome you.

Masters Biathlon Program
The Masters Program is designed for new and returning adult biathletes who would like to participate in biathlon at a recreational or competitive level. The Masters Program focuses on goals for improvement in skills and techniques for biathlon, with the primary focus on shooting and range techniques.
Program Structure:
Crosscut’s Masters Team programs are divided into three groups: an introductory program (Novice Program), a recreational program (Rec Team), and a competitive program (Comp Team). Novice programming includes the use of a Crosscut Biathlon rifle. Rec and Comp programming is generally for those with their own Biathlon rifles, though a limited number of Crosscut rifles are available.
Novice Program: Tailored to new participants and first-time biathletes.
Rec Team: For athletes looking to advance their biathlon skills and participate in races.
Comp Team: Geared towards athletes wanting to realize their full biathlon potential, follow a training plan with multiple sessions per week, and compete at Masters Nationals.
What do I need?
Participants are strongly encouraged to complement their participation in biathlon with efforts to improve their skate skiing. Crosscut offers private and group skate ski lessons and Bridger Ski Foundation offers a masters cross-country ski program.
All participants must become U.S. Biathlon Association (USBA) members and pass USBA’s Basic Rifle Safety course annually.
Joining our program
The Comp and Rec Team are for folks who have taken part in biathlon in the past, either as part of Crosscut’s Novice Biathlon Program or elsewhere. The Novice Program is for new biathletes, no prior shooting experience is needed.
Masters Program spots are limited and fill quickly. Early registration access is provided to past participants and those who have filled out the interest form below.
An important part of the program is giving back to the Crosscut biathlon community by volunteering at Crosscut’s events and clinics. Learn more about volunteering at Crosscut.
