Preseason Skiing Information

A perk for season pass holders

When conditions allow, Crosscut welcomes season pass holders for preseason skiing. Whether and when we can open for preseason skiing varies year-to-year and is dependent on weather and snow conditions.

December 3, 2025 Update:

A beloved perk of being a season pass holder is the opportunity to ski prior to the beginning of the season when conditions allow. Please carefully review the information below and enjoy your time on the trails.

  • Season pass holders are welcome to ski — preseason skiing opened Nov 29.

  • We look forward to welcoming non-season pass holders once we open our winter operations. Purchase your season pass to take advantage of preseason skiing.

  • Our opening date has not yet been set and will be condition and staffing dependent.

  • Please park in the Base Area parking lot near the Nordic & Trail Center.

  • Scan your pass! Please ski with and scan your pass everytime you visit.

  • Most season passes have been mailed — if you have not received your pass it may be because you did not provide a mailing address and/or complete your notification of risk waiver. If you complete these steps before 12/4 your pass will be mailed. If not, you’ll will be able to pick your pass up in the Nordic & Trail Center once we open for the season.

Join the Crosscut community forum

We’ve started a Crosscut Discord server to connect our community of dedicated winter enthusiasts. It’s a user-driven forum where skiers, snowshoers, and fatbikers can share real-time snow conditions, wax insights, and trail reports with each other.

Crosscut’s Discord server is all about community knowledge — by and for the folks who can’t get enough info. Crosscut’s official daily grooming updates and trail closures will continue to appear on Nordic Pulse.

Trails are Open Only to Skiers

  • Dogs are not allowed on the trails at this time. We look forward to welcoming well-behaved dogs once we open for Dog Days which will be after opening day. Learn more about Dog Days.

  • Walking, hiking, and trail running is not permitted. Olsen Creek, 2 miles to the south of CMSC, and South Fork of Brackett, Creek 2 mile to the north, offer excellent opportunities for those interested in these activities.

Preseason Operations Do Not Include Services or Regular Grooming

  • The Nordic & Trail Center building is closed, and no services will be available until opening day. No incident response or emergency services are available until opening day. Please come prepared for a safe, self-supported outing.

  • Trail and skiing quality is dependent on weather conditions. Unfortunately, we cannot make any guarantees as to the quality of preseason conditions.

  • Please note that regular grooming operations have not yet commenced, and the grooming report will not necessarily be updated.

Ski with Caution

  • Trail hazards that could damage ski equipment or cause injury may be present under the thin base of snow.

  • Conditions may change dramatically from day-to-day and week-to-week, please use your best judgement about when to visit.

  • Our team is working to prepare for the season so please be aware that grooming and other trail equipment may be on the trails at any time of day. In addition, you may encounter missing and/or out-of-date signage. Please be patient will us as we work to ensure a fantastic winter season for all.
