Halloween Biathlon Race — 👻 Spooky Sprint!

The Spooky Sprint Halloween Biathlon Race is taking place at Crosscut Mountain Sports Center on Sunday, October 27th. The format of the races will be a “spooky” sprint. There will be competition trail run biathlon race for program participants in pace of our usual Sunday practice.

 

Race Format

The Halloween Biathlon will be a sprint race with a wave start or a mass start depending on the numbers. If wave start, the waves will be separated by age category.

This event is a trail running biathlon and will consist of three running laps and two shooting bouts. Racers must run penalty loops for each shot missed.

 

Categories & Distances

  • U12: Come watch the races and participate in an Open Range session after the races conclude

  • U14: 4.8km trail running biathlon — 3 x 1.6km running laps with 2 shooting bouts (prone, prone with a cuff on prone targets)

  • U16, U18, Junior (U22), Senior (22+): 6km trail running biathlon — 3 x 2km running laps with 2 shooting bouts (prone, standing)

  • Masters A: 6km trail running biathlon — 3 x 2km running laps with 2 shooting bouts (prone, standing)

  • Masters B: 4.8km trail running biathlon — 3 x 1.6km running laps with 2 shooting bouts (prone, standing)

Masters may self select group A or B at their discretion

Schedule

Sunday, October 27th

  • 9:00am - Racer check-in at range

  • 9:30-10:05am - Zeroing

  • 10:15am - Race start for all race categories

  • ~11:00am / after races conclude - Open Range for all

 

Awards

Awards will be given to the top three men and women in Youth (U14, U16, U18), Junior (U22), Senior (22+), and Master categories.
