The Dee-O-Gee Crosscut Classic is a premier Nordic ski event hosted by Crosscut Mountain Sports Center on our expansive groomed trail network in beautiful Bridger Canyon. The Crosscut Classic is a classic technique only event that draws skiers from the Bozeman community and throughout the Rocky Mountain west for the 30k, 15k, and 5k classic ski races and 6k sit ski event.

The event is a way for Crosscut to share our incredible trail system with other passionate skiers while gathering together as a community in the winter season to celebrate the sport we love. Whether racers seek grit or grace, effort or leisure, adventure or comfort, we welcome all participants to join in on the fun.

History of the Event

Start line of the Jim Bridger Langlauf Series

First Security Bank sponsored the inaugural Jim Bridger Langlauf Series January 10, 1982 for 167 participants who skied 28km or 6km loops from the Flaming Arrow Touring Center across Crosscut and other private and US Forest Service lands to Brackett Creek and back. Noted mountaineer Alex Lowe won the Beginner Class. The Langlauf Series included the Hyalite Loop Lope and Mystic Marathon each winter.

The event continued into the 2000’s with the Bohart Sacagawea Ski Classic 36km Race (2004). The Eighth Annual Sacagawea Classic, sponsored by Bridger Ski Foundation, was held in January 2012. Visit our History page to read more about the history of Nordic skiing in Bridger Canyon.

The Sacagawea Classic was revived once again in 2022, and in 2023 at Crosscut Mountain Sports Center. After an incredible couple of years of the event at Crosscut, we have made the decision to rename the event the Crosscut Classic going forward to better align with our organization and to bring awareness to Crosscut as we grow this incredible event and celebrate the sport of Nordic skiing in Bridger Canyon.
