Biathlon

Crosscut promotes athletic achievement and healthy living by providing a safe, supportive, and fun environment for all ages and abilities to participate in recreational and competitive biathlon.

Biathlon combines the thrill of target shooting with the challenge of aerobic exercise. Crosscut offers biathlon to a wide range of participants all year long. More information about the different teams is available below.

Last year, Crosscut took Bridger Biathlon Club (BBC) on as a program. This year, we are simplifying things even more by moving to the new name, Crosscut Biathlon. We want to acknowledge all those who have helped make BBC so successful over the years, and we can't wait for what's next.

Adult Team

Adult Team: FULL FOR THE 2020 WINTER SEASON!!
Coach: Dave Jessen

The Adult Team (formerly Red Team) program is designed for new and returning adult biathletes who would like to participate in biathlon at a recreational or competitive level. The Adult Team will focus on goals for improvement in skills and techniques for biathlon, with the primary focus on shooting and range techniques.

Crosscut’s Adult Team programs will be divided into two groups, a Rec program focusing on new participants and those interested in getting out for a fun activity during the winter, and a Comp program for athletes focused on training and participating in races. The program includes coaching and rifle use for Rec and Comp participants. Comp members are encouraged to purchase personal biathlon rifles, and ammunition for practices and races.

The Winter program will begin Sunday, November 17, 2019 and wrap up with the US Biathlon Nationals the end of March, 2020.  Practices will be Sunday mornings at Crosscut, and an optional Wednesday evening indoor shooting session at Greenway Range at the Fairgrounds.

Athletes are strongly encouraged to complement their participation in biathlon by joining the BSF Masters Nordic ski program, either as part of the Master’s training group or through their skate ski classes or clinics.

All athletes are expected to pass a rifle safety course (Red Book) annually. Any behavior that does not comply with Crosscut's safety standards will not be tolerated. Cost for the winter season is $400. Please contact coach Dave Jessen with questions. Check back in the Spring for more information about registering. We are full for the 2020 Season!
