Uphill Skiing at Crosscut

Access the Bridger backcountry from Crosscut

Crosscut offers uphill travel for backcountry skiers accessing the U.S. Forest Service land west of Crosscut. Uphill passes are available daily, for use during normal operating hours.

  • Uphill Tickets are required for skiers using the Uphill Travel Route. Visit our reservations page to purchase.

  • Use of the Uphill Travel Route is included for Season Pass Holders

  • Uphill skiers must have a valid pass on their person at all times. Acceptable proof of purchase is a printed receipt, a receipt on your phone, or your season pass.

  • Skiers are responsible for knowing and using backcountry ski safety skills.

  • Please follow the signed skin track to our area boundary. Descend in control, along the same route used for ascent, and reenter Crosscut property at the same location you exited.

  • Please respect the cross country ski tracks — no uphill (or downhill) travel through the classic tracks.

  • Be aware of trail crossings and yield to all cross country skiers and grooming equipment.

  • For additional backcountry experiences, we recommend heading to Brackett Creek.

  • For current snowpack and avalanche forecast information, the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center (GNFAC) is our community’s best resource.

  • Dogs are allowed during Crosscut’s specified Winter Dog Days

  • The uphill skiing route should never be used to access Bridger Bowl. Any reports of poaching will result in immediate closure of the uphill route.

If you choose to leave the Crosscut Property:

Avalanche Danger and other life threatening hazards exist beyond the ski area boundary. If you choose to leave Crosscut Mountain Sports Center property, you are solely responsible for your safety and welfare. There is no ski patrol, services, or hazard reduction beyond the Crosscut property boundary. Always be aware of backcountry hazards, including, but not limited to: weather, route finding, and avalanche danger.

Our partnership with Bridger Bowl

While enjoying the access uphill travel provides, we ask that skiers please stay away from Bridger Bowl’s area boundary. Crosscut and Bridger Bowl share a relationship of mutual respect, responsibility, and stewardship. And good neighbors don’t poach!
