Crosscut Summer Community Biathlon Race

  • Crosscut Mountain Sports Center 16621 Bridger Canyon Road Bozeman, MT, 59715 United States (map)

Crosscut Mountain Sports Center hosting two summer community biathlon races

Trail running biathlon race followed by a mountain biking biathlon race — compete in both of just one!

We invite the community to come join us for these fun races and learn about biathlon. No prior experience with biathlon is necessary. Ammo and rifle will be provided to all novice participants, all IBU categories must provide their own firearms and ammo. A novice safety and training session will be held the morning of the race (mandatory for all novices). Crosscut’s biathlon coaches will be on hand to go over safety protocols and zero rifles. This is a great opportunity for the biathlon-curious to experience the sport!

Cost:

For ages 21 and under, each race is $10. For ages 22 and over, each race is $20. That is a 25% discount for those who register for both the running and biking races. Registration closes at 4pm Saturday, July 23rd — no race day registration

IBU/USBA Category Competition Race

The competition race will feature racers of multiple IBU/USBA classes for ages U15 and up. IBU/USBA competitors will need to be USBA (United States Biathlon Association) members and enter their member number at registration.

Novice & U15 Category Race

The Novice race will feature youth and adult categories. The minimum age is 10 for youth enrolled in Crosscut or another regional biathlon program this summer. Minimum age 13 for youth not involved in an area biathlon program. Competitors will either need to be USBA (United States Biathlon Association) members or pay a one-day membership fee of $20 during registration.

Race Format

The race will be a biathlon sprint format — 2 shooting stages with 3 laps. For U15 and Novice both shooting bouts will be prone. For the IBU/USBA category race, the first shooting bout will be prone, and the second shooting bout will be standing. The mountain biking biathlon race will follow the trail running biathlon race.
