SKI Education PROGRAMS FOR SCHOOL GROUPS

Crosscut Mountain Sports Center offers quality ski education programs to school kids from around Montana. These programs are designed to introduce students to the life-long activity of Nordic skiing and create an awareness and appreciation for the outdoor environment.

Curriculum

Our Adventures in Winter Ecology (AWE) curriculum is designed to offer place-based learning experiences in the outdoors, while incorporating elements of the Next Generation Science Standards within each activity. Our curriculum supports experiential learning and offers a unique supplemental educational opportunity for students. We strive to provide an education experience that is adaptable and engaging for grades 3rd-12th. The following topics are offered in our AWE programs:
- Animal winter adaptations
- Animal tracking patterns and skeletal structures
- Snow science and avalanche awareness
- Indigenous Peoples
- Watersheds and environmental stewardship
- Winter tree identification

We offer our Nordic Adventure (NA) programs for grades K-2nd to teach students the basics of cross-country skiing in a stunning environment!

Our Team

Our instructors come from diverse educational and professional backgrounds, but share a common passion for getting kids outside on skis and connecting them with the natural world. From NOLS instructors to retired teachers, our instructors are knowledgeable and experienced educators. We strive to make this field trip accessible and inclusive to all students and believe that cross-country skiing can be a life-long activity for everyone!
